Blow molded chairs vs. injection molded chairs which is better?

Dec. 13, 2021

Now we discuss blow molded chairs and injection molded chairs.

Blow molding chairs use the principle of air pressure to inflate the hot tire blank stored in the mold into a chair-shaped product. Extrusion blow molding is the use of extrusion method, the plastic is first made into a bottomed blank, and then the blank is moved to the blow molding mold and blown into a hollow product. In addition to injection molding machines and extruders, blow molding equipment is mainly used for blow molding molds. Blow molding molds are usually composed of two parts, each with a coolant channel and a small hole on the parting surface for inserting a pressurized air blow pipe.

Injection molding of chairs is a method of forming chairs by heating and uniformly plasticizing thermoplastic or thermosetting plastic raw materials in a heated cylinder and then pushing them into a closed mold with a plunger or moving screw. Almost all thermoplastics can be used for injection molded chairs. Injection molded chairs have also been successfully used with certain thermoset plastics. The molding cycle time for injection molded chairs is short, ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes. Molded chairs range from large to small and from a few grams to tens of kilograms in weight. It can form complex shapes, precise dimensions and plastics with metallic or non-metallic inserts. The finished product.

Blow molding chairs

Compared to injection molded chairs, extrusion blow molded chairs have the following advantages.

1. Chairs in the blow molding process, chair blanks are formed into plastic chairs through the machine head at low pressure and inflated at low pressure. The product has low residual stress, tensile resistance, impact resistance, and environmental protection. Various strains have higher performance and better performance. Injection chair injection molding, the melt must be under high pressure through the mold runners and gates, which will cause uneven distribution of stress.

2. The relative molecular mass of blow molding grade plastic raw materials is much higher than that of injection molding grade plastic. Therefore, the chairs made of blow molding have higher impact toughness and higher resistance to environmental stress cracking.

3. Since the blow molding mold consists only of a negative mold, the wall thickness of the product can be changed by simply adjusting the die gap or extrusion conditions of the mold, which is very advantageous to predetermine the required wall thickness for products that cannot be accurately calculated. The cost of changing the wall thickness of the product for injection molding is much higher.

4. Blow molding machinery, especially the cost of blow molding molds is low. When forming similar products, the cost of blow molding machinery is about 1/3 of the cost of injection molding machinery, the production cost of the product is also lower.

5. Blow molding chairs can produce complex, irregular, integral chairs. When using injection molding, after producing two or more products, it should be combined with snap, solvent bonding or ultrasonic welding.

Folding Chairs

The precision of blow molded chairs is generally not as high as injection molded products; the appearance of injection molded chairs tends to be rougher, which is determined by their different processes. As for the question of which is better, blow molded chairs or injection molded chairs, I think it depends on the specific needs.
